How NYC Auto-Updates Cookbook Paths in Menu Entries

When you build a menu using recipes from a single cookbook or from multiple cookbooks, menu entries are linked to the cookbook where the recipe resides.  This link includes the file path where the cookbook resides on your hard drive.  These file links can become obsolete as you take certain actions, breaking the menu.  For example, if you delete or move a cookbook that contained recipes referenced in a menu, you will get error messages when saving that menu later.  Similar issues will occur if you rename a recipe referenced in a menu.

When possible, NYC attempts to automatically update the cookbook name or file path in your menu entries as you take certain actions.

NYC auto-updates cookbook name and file paths in menu entries in these circumstances:

1.  When you use File... Rename Cookbook... to rename a cookbook;

2.  When you use Tools... Options... User Folder tab to move the User Folder location;

3.  When you run File... Upgrade... to bring over/upgrade menus from a previous NYC installation.

For any recipe in a menu, you can check the cookbook file path reference where NYC believes the cookbook is stored on your hard drive.  Just right-click a recipe name in any menu, and select Properties… from the popup menu.
