Using NYC’s Fitness Calculator

You can use NYC to calculate fitness metrics based on personal data, and track your personal measurements over time.

To open the Fitness Calculator, select Tools... Fitness Calculator...  To get started, press Names... and add your name.  You can later add other names, or delete names from this same window.  When you press Save in the Names window, you will see those names in the Fitness window.

To use the calculator, you will need to enter certain data about yourself (age, gender, exercise level, and body measurements).  Select your name from the name list, then use the small calendar button to select a date for the measurements you are about to enter.  Then enter your personal information and press Save.  This will record your information in the "fitness.lst" file in your user folder.  You can later review your information and fitness metrics on any date for which you entered your data.

NYC provides these fitness metrics based on your personal data:

  Caloric Targets

Body Fat Percentage and Ideal Weight

  Body Mass Index (BMI)

Waist to Height and Waist to Hip ratios

along with relevant tables showing how to interpret these metrics.  Each tab contains helpful information about the metrics.

You can enter data in US or SI units - just select the appropriate radio button.

By entering and reviewing your personal data periodically, you can track your fitness level over time.
