Search and Apply Operations

Sometimes you want to search for recipes with a certain keyword, then assign all those recipes to a category.  Or you want to search for recipes that you want to export.  NYC makes this easy by putting a Search button on the screens of major operations.

To search for recipes, then categorize them:

1.      Select Recipes… Categorize Multiple Recipes… and select a category in the left pane where you want searched recipes to be assigned.

2.      Use the Search button on this window to find recipes you want categorized.  For example, search for all recipes with “beans” in the recipe name.

3.      Select recipes in the search window (or use Select All button), then press the Apply button on the Search window.

To search for recipes, then export them to another cookbook:

  1. Select File… Export Recipes… and select NYC cookbook (or whatever), press Export… then provide a file or cookbook name where the recipes will be exported.

2.      Use the Search button on the export window to find recipes you want to export.  For example, search for all recipes with “beans” in the recipe name.

3.      Select recipes in the search window (or use Select All button), then press the Apply button on the Search window to put the selected recipes in the export queue.

4.      Press the Export button on the export window.

To search for recipes, then add them to a meal plan:

  1. Select File… Menu> Plan… and select the meal in which you want to add recipe(s) from a search.

2.      Use the Search button on the meal plan window to find recipes you want to use.  For example, search for all recipes with “beans” in the recipe name.

3.      Select recipe(s) in the search window that you want added to the selected meal, then press the Apply button on the Search window to put the selected recipe(s) into that meal on the meal plan.

In addition to using Apply from a search window, you can also print, open, delete, tag/untag, or email selected recipes from the search list.
